Diplomarbeit aus dem Jahr 2014 im Fachbereich Geschichte Europa - Deutschland - 1848, Kaiserreich, Imperialismus, Note: 2, Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck (Philosophisch Historische Fakultät), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Am Anfang dieser Arbeit steht ein geschichtlicher Überblick zum deutschen Kolonialismus. Dabei reicht es nicht, von der Besitzübernahme über afrikanischer Ländereien 1884 auszugehen. Wichtig sind ebenfalls die Vorgeschichte des deutschen Kolonialismus und eine kurze Auseinandersetzung mit den Strömungen und wichtigsten Theoretikern innerhalb des damals noch nicht gegründeten Deutschen Reichs. Anschließend wird ein Blick auf den deutschen Sonderweg zum Erwerb von Kolonien geworfen. Dabei stand weniger der deutsche Selbstanspruch auf territoriale Erweiterung, sondern Handelsinteressen im Vordergrund. In der Arbeit wird das Augenmerk dabei exemplarisch auf Deutsch-Ostafrika als größte und bevölkerungsreichste deutsche Kolonie gelegt. Außerdem bietet sich Deutsch-Ostafrika aufgrund der langen und kompromisslosen deutschen Kriegsführung während des Ersten Weltkrieges an. Hier ist besonders wichtig, das Vorgehen der deutschen Schutztruppe sowie die Truppe selbst genauer zu beleuchten, da diese maßgeblichen Einfluss auf den Kolonialrevisionismus in der Weimarer Republik und während der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus hatte. Nachdem die Kolonien durch die Niederlage im Ersten Weltkrieg verloren gingen, stellt sich die Frage nach kolonialen Ansprüchen und dem Umgang mit dem Verlust in der Weimarer Republik und in der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus. Welche Pläne und Vorhaben gab es in dieser Zeit? Anschließend wird anhand von Beispielen der Umgang mit der eigenen Kolonialgeschichte in der neu gegründeten Bundesrepublik betrachtet. In der anschließenden Diskussion wird versucht, die eingangs gestellten Fragen zu beantworten.
